Today Stardoll officially reached 300 million members, and to no avail released free items available fro purchase in the star plaza. Below you can view an outfit I created with said items. Putting this and the only other gift we all received being 300 star coins, Stardoll really dropped the bucket.Reacheing 300 million is quite the milestone, but the way Stardoll chose to go about celebrating it really disappointed me considering the last milestone was 250 mil, we received way better gifts.
Wow, we hit 300 million members after 7 years…
That is almost as much as there are people living in the USA (313 million in 2012).
The reality is that on average there are only over 200k "active" users a month, and this milestone only counts the number of accounts created since 2004. So technically there are only hundreds of thousands to millions of active users on a weekly basis not really 300 million. A lot of people like to believe it's the fake accounts that make up most of the numbers, it does have some truth to it but in reality it's the number of accounts created in almost a decade of this site being launched.
Below you can view the gift-o-meter.
Above you can view two outfits I created with the couture items I received from the gift-o-meter.
I waited for the NELLY items to be released so I could get gifts accordingly. I'm quite pleased with my purchase but overall feel cheated for somehow. This gift-o-meter along with the release of new nelly collection were as usual well executed star dollar wasting plans on Stardoll's behalf. I guess I'm just disappointed we didn't get a 300 million members sign and some spare star dollars wouldn't have hurt.
Which leaves me wondering… were will Stardoll be in another 7 years? If my math is correct seven years from now it'll be 2021, which is a bit morbid for me to think about since the year sounds way to futuristic and out of reach. Will Stardoll have the same fate as other dress up sites by the likes of girlsense.com? Very unlikely, one thing is for sure, I hope to not be playing by then…
My Gift-o-meter rating: 4/5
Free items get a mediocre at best rating from me, you could have done way better Stardoll.
Just saying.
Blog y'all later.
