My Sephora Picks

Sephora is back to the Starplaza for the first time since 2009, four years since it last left us old veterans begging for it's return! I couldn't help but buy everything. The entire reissued collection summed up to a total of 400+ Stardollars which I had no remorse about considering how long I've waited for this opportunity. For those of you who may question why those this reissued brand brings up so much buzz, it's very simple; these items are easy to blend, the chosen color palette is wonderful, and the packaging just makes so aesthetically appealing. Don't be stingy, you don't want to later regret missing out on these gems! If you are low on stardollars then read on for my must have recommendations.

MY FAVORITES
My #1 Pick: Kat Von D
I love these colors. The packaging is a plus and this is easily the highlight of the collection. If you are low on stardollars but don't want to miss out, these are my highly recommended must-haves.

THE SHADE STICKS
If you are looking for that shimmers, gold and bold, these are the colors for you!  Not only are these metallic colors gorgeous, they are also very versatile.

The PERFECT GLOW
Out of all three released blushes, this soleil tone is just lovely!

CRAZY FOR THESE MANIAC LIPSTICKS
These two shades are just too gorgeous to miss out on. Great for any season, spring or fall!

THE EYESHADOWS
If you are low on stardollars but are willing to splurge on some beautiful new eyeshadow colors, these are my picks! With the exception of Transform, there aren't many options available for those of us who love earth tones or neutral browns, and these right here are your best chance, so don't miss out!

And last but not least...

Here is a video I posted on my channel featuring the store... Hope you enjoy my little shopping spree. ;)

Review: New Nelly collection ft. Leighton Meester + OOTD

Stardoll's new addition to the Nelly store in Starplaza is absolutely excellent.
My picks would have to be the celfie beanie hat, medley jacket, and a select few of the dresses. As always this brand never disappoints, and it makes me really glad Stardoll puts a lot of effort into the graphic design aspect of the collection, it really well done.
Below you can view an outfit I've created featuring the new items.
Overall rating for this collection: 5/5

OOTD + 300 Stardoll members

Today Stardoll officially reached 300 million members, and to no avail released free items available fro purchase in the star plaza. Below you can view an outfit I created with said items. Putting this and the only other gift we all received being 300 star coins, Stardoll really dropped the bucket.Reacheing 300 million is quite the milestone, but the way Stardoll chose to go about celebrating it really disappointed me considering the last milestone was 250 mil, we received way better gifts.
Wow, we hit 300 million members after 7 years…
That is almost as much as there are people living in the USA (313 million in 2012).
The reality is that on average there are only over 200k "active" users a month, and this milestone only counts the number of accounts created since 2004. So technically there are only hundreds of thousands to millions of active users on a weekly basis not really 300 million. A lot of people like to believe it's the fake accounts that make up most of the numbers, it does have some truth to it but in reality it's the number of accounts created in almost a decade of this site being launched.

Below you can view the gift-o-meter.

Above you can view two outfits I created with the couture items I received from the gift-o-meter.
I waited for the NELLY items to be released so I could get gifts accordingly. I'm quite pleased with my purchase but overall feel cheated for somehow. This gift-o-meter along with the release of new nelly collection were as usual well executed star dollar wasting plans on Stardoll's behalf. I guess I'm just disappointed we didn't get a 300 million members sign and some spare star dollars wouldn't have hurt.
Which leaves me wondering… were will Stardoll be in another 7 years? If my math is correct seven years from now it'll be 2021, which is a bit morbid for me to think about since the year sounds way to futuristic and out of reach. Will Stardoll have the same fate as other dress up sites by the likes of girlsense.com? Very unlikely, one thing is for sure, I hope to not be playing by then…

My Gift-o-meter rating: 4/5
Free items get a mediocre at best rating from me, you could have done way better Stardoll.
Just saying.

300 million members campaign spoiler

Stardoll's latest spoiler implies a new campaign will be coming.
Hopefully this will be a campaign like no other considering how flaky the last ones were and hitting 300 million really is quite the milestone.

This is one of the moments were I get nostalgic and look back at the last 7 years I've been a member… Will be updating in no time, as I assume I'll be in school when Stardoll finally reaches their 300 mill mark.

Nelly celebrates 10th year anniversary with new campaign

Stardoll's not so subtle latest spoiler, has gotten me exited for what's to come.
Nelly is one of my favorite Stardoll stores, and to know that Leighton Meester is collaborating in a campaign is the cherry on top. I love her and the clothes featured on this ad. The campaign was shot in beautiful Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles for Nelly's Spring campaign 2014 which celebrates the company's 10th anniversary.

86th Academy Awards Best Dressed list inspires new Young Hollywood

A new Young Hollywood collection was released today, and at a glance,
these items are as gorgeous as their inspiration!

On Sunday night, those of us who tuned in for the annual Oscars awards ceremony, got to watch nominees by the likes of Jennifer Lawrence rocking her usual Dior uniform and tripped in the process, seriously tone it down on the alcohol homegirl. Along with Cate Blanchett and my personal favorites, Lupita Nyong'o and Jared Leto; all three snagged a trophy that not only recognized their subliminal talent, but a top spot at acclaimed best dressers of the red carpet in my opinion.
Lupita Nyong'o custom made Prada gown
I rooted for Lupita and Jared all the way, such well deserved wins! It's sad to see such decorated nominees by the likes of Leo Di Caprio loose again, but hey it took Daniel Day Lewis a few losses in order to win too! Now, to give you all what you are actually here for here is a (biased)
list that highlights some of the best or worst looks of the event…

"Strike A Pose" collection review

The newest installment to the Starplaza has generated so much buzz within the community in the last 36 hours alone, it's safe to say it has given a whole new meaning to exclusive snobbism.

On early Monday morning (for those of us living in Eastern Standard Time), a new collection featuring fabulous items that screamed street style and the occasional stiff gesture imitating a New York socialite hailing a taxi down Madison Avenue.

The first item to get my attention is the now most sought after NY blazer in hand denim. These jeans seem to imitate the go-to pose so many of us Lookbook bloggers use.

My doll poised front and center amidst my collection.
Despite my usual lack of luck at being prepared for Stardoll's collection outbursts - not that they didn't warn us - I shelled out the bucks for all of the poses (including the interior). Here are some outfits I styled featuring some of the most sought after items of the collections.

Albeit, this collection with its exciting take on street style does come with a pros and cons list.

Pros
  • Prices were somewhat fair considering the items are limited.
  • Poses we can use in many different ways for styling our dolls.
  • Gloved hands and legs can easily be edited into graphics.
Cons
  • Items sold out within hours of the store being opened. Some members are creating bidding wars and selling them for up to thousands of Stardollars.
  • Items were too limited, with almost 300 million members you'd think Stardoll would be a bit more considerate.
  • Graphics wise, no one is fond of the grey, black, and over all neutral limbs. We want skin colored poses please!
  • Some poses could have been gorgeous add-ons to spice up an outfit, but their neutral counter parts completely ruin them and defeat the purpose of a street style outfit. For example: white fur coat with extended black palms.
  • Some of the graphics were subpar and lacked much detail considering the steep tag price.
  • Items aren't very versatile...
I could go on and on, but you get the gist, the cons outweigh the pros.
That doesn't stop me from feeling lucky that I managed to snag all of the poses though!
It's a simple marketing strategy that although bordering full on monopoly, it was a smart move by Stardoll as a company. Well played, well played indeed. Let's cross our fingers that the next collection (yes it's been confirmed it will be just as exclusive!) will have diverse skin shades and colors.

Loving: Gingham

Gingham is one of the major patterns of this season, replacing the love of plaid during the A/W of 2013. The pattern is perfect for Spring because it not only incorporates the classic shades of black and white, but also has a softer presence in comparison to the heavy appearance of plaid. Check out some of my favourite Gingham pieces as well as my interpretation of the trend!
